Mathias started his career in Southern California as a teenage stage performer. His love for the character transformations he learned to create led him to seek a position as a makeup artist for Make Up For Ever where he could train with some of the best international makeup artists from Paris and New York. He quickly outgrew his role as a lead makeup artist in Orange County and with determination and an ambition to work with Hollywood actresses, moved to LA. He began freelancing for several high-end brands such as Kevyn Aucoin Beauty, NARS, Smashbox, and Urban Decay but his career quickly blossomed and soon he was working with fashion photographers, models and actresses and some of Hollywood's elite.

His dream of working in television first became a reality when he was offered the opportunity to join the team at E Television as a makeup artist. Eventually he became the Key Makeup/Hair Artist on hit television shows such as "The Soup" with Joel McHale, and "The Fashion Police" with Joan Rivers. Mathias worked on numerous shows as the key makeup/hair artist during his 10 years at E Television and ultimately was able to join the Makeup and Hair Artists' Union where he continues to work on television and film projects in addition to his steady freelance career working with brides, advertising clients, and private celebrity clients.  

Mathias' natural talent as a performer and his infectious personality has led him to working in front of the camera as a Beauty Expert and co-host of TLC's hit makeover show "Dare to Wear." Mathias' work has also been featured on Netflix, FX, Epix, OWN, The Style Network, Access Hollywood, MTV, The Hallmark Channel, and TLC. Some of his print credits include Glamour, IN Touch Weekly, OK Magazine, and BELLO Magazine.
